I don’t like to use the phrase “game changer” very often, so as to preserve its sanctity for when it actually matters….a goal, a dream SO big that it deserves the title. I kinda feel like a thousand roads have twisted and turned and exploded and began and it’s all led to this.
I am VERY proud to announce that I’ll be starring as a trainer and sports nutritionist on the new ABC weight loss show “My Diet Is Better Than Yours.”
To be able to bring my background in aggressive training, sports nutrition, and exercise science to the national conversation on health and fitness is my dream. Helping people rediscover their health, their strength, and their general sense of badassery is what I love to do and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

ABC is shaking up Primetime this January with a new show called My Diet is Better Than Yours. Star experts, nutritionists, and trainers will coach overweight Americans on how to lose weight on their unique diet and fitness plans. My Diet is Better Than Yours features celebrity trainers including Rob “Tank Top” Sulaver (founder and CEO of Bandana Training), Abel “Bacon Cheeseburger” James (author of The Wild Diet), Dawn “Super duper” Jackson Blatner (author of The Flexitarian Diet), Jennifer “3rd degree badass” Cassetta (clinical nutritionist, personal trainer and self-defense expert), and Jay “Uncle Handsome” Cardiello (celebrity trainer to 50 Cent, Jennifer Lopez, and professional athletes). Unlike NBC’s The Biggest Loser, contestants on ABC’s My Diet is Better Than Yours will be following their expert’s unique diets from their home. There’s no “weight loss camp” – only real people working real jobs with real families – doing the best they can to lose weight.
“Unlike other diet shows, this is real life,” says Shaun T, creator of the home fitness sensation Insanity and host of the show. “They’re going to work, they’re coming home and they have to make their own food.” To measure each contestant’s fitness progress, contestants will be evaluated in challenges created by celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser (whose clients include Kelly Ripa, Shakira, and Sarah Jessica Parker). In order to qualify for the final weigh in and be eligible for the $50,000 grand prize, contestants must finish the final milestone challenge – a half marathon.
My client LaTasha “luminous” Givens will be following The Nutrient Timing Plan, which is all about eating the right food, in the right amounts, at the right times, especially in relationship to exercise. Because of the show’s emphasis on long term health, weight-loss, AND endurance, for exercise #TeamRoBasha (that’s our celebrity name) will be focusing on a three-tiered approach. Pulling workouts directly from BTX, BeachFit, and Super Villain, we lift heavy, torch calories with high intensity interval training, and get ready for that half marathon with a cardio/endurance program.
In an interesting twist, the competitors hold the power of elimination. Just like real life, trainers can be sent packing if tempers flair or goals go unachieved. The stakes are high and the struggle…is….real. Thursday Jan 21st is my premier. Be sure to tune in at 9pm Easter/8pm Central on ABC.

P.P.S. – It’s kinda insane…if you would have told me a year ago that I’d be replacing my best friend’s time slot on ABC, I would have told you you’re loco. My Diet Is Better Than Yours slips into the mid winter break for How To Get Away With Murder. Now obviously I’ll never be able to fill the shoes of dreamboat Matt McGorry, but all the same, it’s wild how the universe works sometimes. =)
